The Year of Empowered Homes

This past week, our Empowered Homes team had the privilege of gathering with hundreds of families in Kampala, Uganda, for an incredible Empowered Homes Conference hosted by Miracle Center Kawempe Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Nabulere.

The conference began on Friday evening with a special dinner for more than 200 couples. Every couple arrived dressed in their best and enjoyed a special meal. During the evening, Brad Flurry and Kina Cockroft taught a powerful session on marriage, challenging couples to build homes centered on Christ and strengthened by intentional love, commitment, and spiritual leadership.

The following day, more than 500 people gathered for our family conference sessions, including sessions for teens. Together, we explored biblical principles for building strong homes, discipling children, strengthening marriages, and encouraging families to serve God’s purpose in our generation.

What made this gathering especially meaningful was seeing firsthand how God continues to expand the vision of Empowered Homes among the nations. Our meeting in Kampala was our third international Empowered Homes Conference since the start of the year.

In addition to our Men of Courage Summit in the Philippines, sending a team to serve Agua Viva in El Salvador, and sending a team to engage with the remote Matses people deep in the Amazon, we sent Empowered Homes teaching teams to Spain and Brazil. We will return to Spain for a second conference this Fall and send a team to Australia.

Why the emphasis on Empowered Homes?

In 2019, Kingsland launched the Empowered Homes initiative as a network designed to provide homes and churches with practical resources and strategies to equip parents to take ownership of the spiritual development of their children. Our desire is to see homes transformed by the power of the gospel.

At Kingsland, we are committed to doing home with missions in mind and missions with the home in mind. Our purpose is to invite all people — from Katy to the ragged ends of the earth — to experience true fulfillment in Jesus Christ, one home at a time.

Several years ago, Pastor Ryan cast a God-sized vision to reach 1,000,007 homes with the transforming power of the gospel. While that number may seem overwhelming, the final seven homes remind us that every believer can allow God to use them to reach seven homes.

Every individual reached with the gospel represents a home. Every transformed heart carries the potential to impact an entire family and influence future generations for Christ. The conferences in Spain, Brazil and Uganda represent another important step forward in our commitment to empower homes among the nations.

Over the past several years, our Empowered Homes team has had opportunities to speak in churches and conferences around the United States, equipping parents to embrace their role as the primary faith trainers in their homes. Today, more than 35,000 people from as many as 115 countries access the more than 15,000 resources available through Kingsland’s Empowered Homes site each month, while thousands more listen to Empowered Homes podcasts designed to strengthen families and encourage biblical discipleship in the home.

We are deeply grateful to Pastor Robert Nabulere, Miracle Center Kawempe Church, and every volunteer and leader who helped make this gathering possible. We also want to thank everyone whose prayers and generosity continue to fuel this mission around the world.

More than ever, we believe strong homes are essential to advancing the kingdom of God. When the gospel transforms a home, it transforms communities, cities, and nations. Please continue praying with us as we seek to reach and empower 1,000,007 homes for the glory of God.
