Welcome

Welcome to Go Beyond | Living Adventurously for God

My name is Omar C. Garcia. I am the Missions Pastor at Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, Texas. I am a graduate of Pan American University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and served as a writer for LifeWay Christian Resources from 1995 to 2016. I also maintain BibleTeachingNotes.com — a website for teachers and students of the Bible.

I enjoy leading the people of Kingsland to make meaningful connections with others from Katy to the ends of the earth. Our missions ministry mobilizes more than 3,500 volunteers annually to participate in local and international missions initiatives. My wife Cheryl and I have three children (Elizabeth, Jonathan, Gina) and have enjoyed more than thirty years of marriage. Because of her faithful love and support, I am able to Go Beyond.

My adventure with God started in high school. A Christian friend gave me a copy of the New Testament on February 19, 1973. I took that New Testament home and began to read it that same night and continued reading it every night. I was fascinated by the life of Jesus and by the lives of those who followed Him. The more I read, the more convicted I became that something was missing in my life. Within a matter of weeks, I heard a presentation of the gospel message. For the first time, I understood my sinful condition and my need for Jesus Christ. I repented of my sins and placed my faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

My walk with Christ has been the greatest adventure of my life and one that has taken me to thirty-nine countries on the planet. My life has been enriched by the people I have met and the places I have seen — all reminders of the beauty and diversity of God’s creative activity.

This site is dedicated to reflections on my journey with Christ. As a Christ-follower, I believe that I have a personal responsibility to share (proclamation) and to show (incarnation) His love to others. I hope you enjoy the thoughts I record and the insights I glean along my journey and that you will take a moment to offer your thoughts about what it means to Go Beyond — to forsake contentment and to continually “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 2:14). And, I hope that you will live adventurously for God — daily taking the initiative to demonstrate His love to others in practical ways and intelligently articulating His message to a world in need, one person at a time.

May God bless you as you live adventurously for Him.

Blessings,
Omar C. Garcia

  9. Hello! My name is Katrina Funk and I live in Germany. I’m working with a group of very young moms through MOPS International. I’m trying hard to initiate a program to improve the water conditions in their neighborhood. We are also teaching them to make soap so they can support themselves and their precious children. We need ways to sell this soap. If you have any ideas can you please contact me? matandkatrina@gmail.com. I will be going to Uganda at the end of August to help evaluate and develop our program there. I can send you our blog address if you would like to know more

    • Hi Katrina,

Thanks for your good work. In regard to your water project, you can contact Living Water International at water.cc for helpful info. We have also helped with water purification initiatives in places like the Amazon. We worked with Sawyer Water Filters who provide filters at a reasonable cost. If maintained, these filters can last a family for many years and filter out many impurities. Would love to follow your blog.

Thanks for all you are doing to help others,
      Omar~
